Hemel Storm faced Manchester Magic in the NBL Division One match on February 11, where they claimed their 16th win of the season.
The first quarter started off well with a dunk from Taylor Johnson, then Magic went onto score three pointers. The score was 10-10 before Storm ended up winning the second half of the quarter 19-29.
Magic were forced into an early timeout after there were three successive pointers within one minute of the second quarter. Storm scored 39 points in this quarter, with layups, alley coops and three pointers. The team went into half time with a 36-68 lead.
In the third quarter, Storm scored 19 points, but this was not as issue as the structured defence limited Magic to 16 points. This allowed coach Spinks to give game time to all 11 players and Storm led 52-87 into the final quarter. The team walked away with a 60-116 win.
A report by Ollie Heathcote said: “It was a fantastic display by Storm, who showed focus and outstanding team chemistry to overcome the Magic. This gives Storm a 16-0 record keeping them top of the league table going into an incredible important local rivalry away to Thames Valley Cavaliers on Saturday 18th February at 6.30pm.”
