A prisoner who masturbated in front of jail staff and sexually assaulted a female officer was today (September 28) given two more years in jail.
Warren Meade, 37, exposed himself 17 times to 9 women officers and women teaching staff at Thameside in south east London, Coldingley Prison in Woking and The Mount in Bovingdon.
The exposures happened at roll calls, at shower time and in classrooms between 2015 and 2019, St Albans crown court heard.
Prosecutor Chris Harper said Meade had also touched, over her clothing, the bottom of a woman prison officer on two occasions.
Meade, who is from Hackney, appeared for sentence having pleaded guilty to 9 charges of exposure and one of sexual assault of a female. He had 25 convictions for 40 offences, including violence, dishonesty and sex offences.
The court was told he is currently serving a 36 month sentence for wounding and having a blade.
Defending, Khaleeq Zaman, said: “He has pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and is throughly ashamed, remorseful and regretful.
“He offers no excuses and recognises his offending caused alarm, distress and discomfort.”
He said is his now a different man and has not offended since he was interviewed by the police in May 2019. He said he was now using his time in prison constructively and had achieved enhanced prisoners status.
Recorder Peter Guest said he must serve an extra two years on top of his current sentence. He said: “The offences are so serious they can only be met by custody. It was a course of conduct that spanned almost four years involved ten different female prison workers.”
He must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
