Published on: 27th September 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

On Thursday, September 19, the new 1st Northwood Scouting Centre in Northwood Way, Northwood Hills was officially opened by past mayors Carol Melvin and John Morgan.

It was a wonderful warm and sunny evening and the event ran very smoothly.

The ceremony was the culmination of three years work from the initial planning and fundraising through to demolition of the old hut and construction and fitting out of the new centre.

In his speech, John Morgan said: “This project run by 1st Northwood Scouts has been a triumph for volunteering in the community and I congratulate you all.”

The event started with a prosecco reception in the grounds of the Centre, followed by cutting the ribbon across the front doors.

All the guests then entered the building for a speech from Councillor John Morgan, and responses by 1st Northwood members.

The event continued with a hog roast, and a bar was available throughout the evening.

Over 100 people attended. The purpose of the event was to thank the major donors and contractors for making the project happen.

Other attendees included Scouting representatives from District and County levels, local Police, other local Councillors and many others who had supported the Group in different ways.

The Group wishes to thank all members of the local community who have contributed to the success of the project.
