Tributes have poured in after a man tragically died after being shot by a terrorist in the Tunisian beach massacre whilst his wife was shot in the face. Gina Van Dort and husband Chris Dyer were on holiday in the Imperial Marhaba hotel in Sousse, but on June 26 they were in the firing line of the terrorist attacks as they sat in the hotel which backs onto the beach where the massacre took place. Chris was shot in the head and died at the scene whilst Gina was shot in the face and was lucky to survive. When medics arrived, Gina managed to find the strength despite her injuries and refused to let go of her husband of two years. Medics said she had been shot under the chin and the bullet exited through her eye; she lost her left eye and following a tracheotomy she is unable to speak. In the hospital, doctors said that although Gina could not speak, she managed to find the strength to write a note asking for her wedding ring which had been removed during surgery. Chris was a huge Watford FC supporter, and the team tweeted: “Extremely sad to hear about Watford FC fan Chris Dyer, who unfortunately died in the Tunisia attacks. Thoughts are with his family. RIP.”
