A man has died following a fall from a bridge over the M1 near Watford.
Emergency services rushed to the motorway between Junctions 4 and 5 yesterday, Tuesday, March 14, after reports that a man had fallen off a bridge.
The M1 was closed for several hours, with two ambulances and an air ambulance in attendance. Sadly, the man passed away at the scene.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: “Police were called at around 9.45am on Tuesday 14 March following an incident on the M1 northbound, between junctions 4 and 5.
“It was reported that a man had fallen from a bridge. Officers attended alongside the ambulance service and road closures were put in place.
“Despite best efforts, the man sadly passed away at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
“The closures were lifted at just after 1pm. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
