An unpopular planning application to turn a Pizza Express in Stanmore into flats has been withdrawn.
The application proposed to convert the restaurant on The Broadway into two one-bed flats, with the space extended to create two further flats. The application also included plans to build a three-and four-storey building consisting of 11 flats at a nearby site.
A total of 66 comments were left on the planning application on Harrow Council’s website prior to its withdrawal.
Complaints included concerns over the lack of available parking and potential traffic issues, as well as individuals not wishing to lose what is a popular high street restaurant.
One resident commented that the plans would lead to “the degradation of Stanmore from a vibrant village community with many local amenities into a desolate dormitory suburb”.
Applicants DS Squared Architects have been contacted for comment.
