Ahead of this year’s Abbots Langley Tough Ten (ALTT), organisers are reflecting on the popular fundraising event’s previous successes.
In last year’s race, 10 local charities were aided by the thousands of pounds raised by the runners, including The Veterans Club, AL First Responders, Abbots Langley Orchestra, the Hospice of St Francis, Rennie Grove Peace Hospice, and The Monday Club.
Alison Warner, a committee member for ALTT, spoke to ABBOTSnews about some of the people who have benefitted from the funds raised.
She said: “I remember an 11-year-old girl who had a kidney disease. ALTT helped to fund a holiday for her and her family to Lyme Regis, where she was able to discover more about her interest in fossils.
“We also gave Emily Mott (the inspirational teenage girl for whom the mylocalHero Child of Courage award is named) an iPad to use while she was in hospital and a meal at The Grove, including a limo ride there.
“Please help us to give others in our community a special treat, or funds for them to continue their wonderful work by signing up to run in our race.”
This year’s races take place from 9.30am on Sunday, October 6, beginning at Manor House Grounds in Abbots Langley.
You can also ‘pay not to run’ this year if running isn’t your thing, where you can make a large monetary donation in lieu of taking part in the race.
