TOUCHING TRIBUTE: Croxley Tennis Club reveals tribute to late coach

Published on: 31st August 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A recent refurbishment at Croxley Tennis Club (CTC) includes a new bench paying tribute to a beloved former coach.

The bench has been installed in memory of the late Wayne McDonald, who was a long-standing figure at the club before he sadly passed away in April at the age of 41.

The bench, inside the new garden area, has a plaque which reads: “Forget about the last point, focus on the next one. In loving memory of Wayne McDonald.”

Elsewhere, CTC’s mini courts have also recently been repainted and new nets installed, all of which has been made possible by a monetary grant from local county councillor Chris Lloyd.

This comes after the club’s successful open day in July which saw a number new players join up.

Member Sarah Arnold said: “In the autumn, the club will be hosting an in-house club championship that is open to all members, with a finals event to be held in October.

“It’s a great time to start playing tennis, so see our website for more details!”
