The Stanmore Society are preparing for a busy summer

Published on: 15th May 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

It is great to see that the summer has arrived, and we have long (and hopefully warm) days to look forward to.

There are so many lovely places to visit and walks to do in and around Stanmore, especially at this time of year.

We often forget how lucky we are to live in such a green area.

We, The Stanmore Society, would like to invite you to our poetry afternoon on Wednesday, May 15 – please bring along your favourite piece of poetry or prose to share and our annual Strawberry Social on Wednesday, July 10.

Our AGM this year will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 8pm Stanmore Library.

We are pleased to announce that our main speaker will be Gavin Stein from Elysian Residences; who will update us on their development on the old Jubilee House Site.

We would also like to thank Elysian Residences for being the main sponsor for this year’s Stanmore Village Fete and dog show on Sunday, July 14.

There will be activities for all the family; including a dog show, craft stalls, a children’s fun fair and entertainment.

This year’s event will raise funds for Maggie Cancer Care – who offer free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.

The Disability Foundation – who are based up at RNOH and provide complementary therapy services to disabled people, anyone suffering from a chronic health or medical condition, as well as those involved in their care.

Funds will also go to The National Welfare Trust – who are running the dog show – and My Yard, who rescue surplus food and deliver boxes to those in need as well as putting on creative meals and events to connect communities.

If you would be interested in having a stall, performing, donating a raffle or tombola prize, advertising in our commemorative brochure or would like to get involved in any way please contact Michelle on enquiries@stanmorefete.co.uk
