TEST MATCH: Abbots Langley and Kings Langley cricket clubs to battle in charity match

A charity cricket match is set to take place between two local cricket clubs to raise money as part of the annual Tough Ten event.

With this year’s event set to be bigger than ever before, the Tough Ten Committee is currently finalising plans for this year’s race.

The race is being run in memory of George Harrison MBE, one of the race founders, who sadly passed away in January.

On Sunday, August 27, there will be a charity cricket match between Kings Langley and Abbots Langley Cricket Clubs, who have both benefitted from Tough Ten support in the past.

Both teams will be playing for the Platinum Jubilee Cup, donated by parish council chairman councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst and which is currently held by the Kings Langley club.

The money raised will be added to the funds raised by the Tough Ten.

Tough Ten Committee member Pat Waterton said: “It will be a fun afternoon, weather permitting, and it will be great to see some support.”

Before race day, Sunday, October 1, the traditional pre-race curry night will be held at Cinnamon Lodge on Monday, September 18. Tickets are available from committee members or at Over the Moon in the High Street and cost £20 for a two-course meal, with table quiz and raffle prizes.

Race numbers, medals, trophies and banners are all in stock and online registration is open here. Teams can be entered by contacting
