The switch on of the festive lights at the Christmas house in Croxley Green this evening will be tinged with sadness after Dave Edwards, the village’s Mr Christmas, died last night.
Mr Christmas, who had been battling cancer, had been fighting to see the switch on by his daughter Sharon who broke the news earlier this morning.
She wrote: “This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do ( turning the lights on tonight will be even harder). Last night at 6.42 Mr Christmas ( my dad) fell asleep, in my arms. He has fought a courageous battle with cancer. He is now with mum. Hopefully when we light up Croxley Green tonight he will be able to see the lights from heaven.”
