Northwood Hills residents were left shocked after a teenager was stabbed in broad daylight.
The incident took place on Joel Street on the afternoon of Saturday, April 20, with police and the ambulance service called to the scene between 4.37pm and 4.39pm.
Upon arrival, the emergency services found a 16-year-old boy with stab wounds. The main road was blocked off to traffic so they could provide aid to the injured victim.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre.”
The Met Police have since confirmed that the boy’s injuries are non-life-threatening .
They also stated that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
According to data from the Office for National Statistics, there was a 20 per cent increase in the number of offences recorded by the Met involving a knife or sharp instrument in London in the last year.
