A Northwood school pupil has qualified for a world golf championship after beating off the competition in a qualifier event.
Mihir Pasura, who attends St Martin’s School in Northwood took part in a qualifier event organised by the British Junior Golf Tour at St. Ives Golf Club on Sunday, April 18.
The win from the seven-year-old secured him a place at the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships which is set to take place in San Diego, California this July.
This is a huge honour as Mihir is one of just four boys in the seven to eight age category that will represent the United Kingdom at San Diego.
Mihir said he is both excited and nervous about travelling to the championship in San Diego.
He said: “I’m feeling really excited, but a bit nervous about going to California to play golf against other boys of my age from lots of other countries from all over the world.”
Representing the United Kingdom in the championship is a huge honour as Mihir will join 1,300 of the best junior golfers from over 50 countries.
The previous winners list is filled with star studded recipients such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els.
