NICE TRY: Tring Rugby club aiming to return to top of the table in new year

Published on: 9th February 2024   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

Tring Rugby are reflecting on recent developments within the club, as well as looking forward to an exciting new year.

The team were delighted to announce their new sponsor partner Huel in August last year, meaning they are now officially called Huel Tring Rugby.

The club has four senior teams in addition to the 400-plus minis, juniors and colts that play every Sunday during the season at Cow Lane, with ages ranging from two-and-a-half to 18 years old.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Our girls’ team has combined with Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard to provide more resources.

“We’re very proud of our former players, Zoe Harrison and Helena Rowland, who have played for England Women Red Roses in the World Cup and at the Olympics!”

Huel Tring Rugby’s 4th team has recently been created out of the Egg Chasing for Breakfast club, which is a touch rugby team for ‘retired’ players who want to resurrect their playing days but not necessarily with full-on physicality.

The spokesperson continued: “Our 1st team plays in Regional 1 South East League which is Level 5, only just below the National Leagues, punching well above our weight for a town of Tring’s size.

“We finished the 2022/23 season well in 5th place and we are looking to finish the last third of this season with some big results to get us back up to the top of the table!”

The club is always looking for more players. To find out more, visit www.tringrugby.com
