Swimmers from Watford Swimming Club made a splash at a recent open water championship, taking home 10 medals.
In the Regional Open Water Championships in Norwich on … the club’s open water squad went up against swimmers in distances of one, two, three and five kilometres.
Despite facing varied weather conditions, including rain showers and the looming threat of storms, the squad proved their mettle and emerged victorious.
Prisha Tapre secured a silver in Herts for the 3km distance and a double gold in both the Herts and East region for the 5km event.
William Harris secured a gold in both the 3km and 5km events.
Constantine Calliafas qualified for Nationals by earning a gold in Herts and gold in the East region for the 2km distance.
Tom Gilbert and Esme Hui secured silver medals in Herts for the 1km distance and Hugo Harley secured a gold medal.
Felipe Irvine took home a gold medal in Herts for the 2km distance.
Jeremy Irvine, open water coach for the team, was delighted with the team’s achievements.
He said: “I am thrilled with the results; they are a great squad who have trained hard together at Denham waterski lake, plus we’ve had plenty of fun along the way.”
