Susan, 83, learns to swim

An 83-year-old woman has been learning to swim for the first time in Watford.

Susan Moser has been attending lessons at Watford Swim School in Stud Green, Garston, for several months in an attempt to learn to swim for the first time.

Hayley Munday, headteacher and owner of the school, spoke to MyWatfordNews about Susan, saying: “Susan is our oldest pupil and she’s done really well.

“She wanted to learn to swim on her back and she’s accomplished that in 12 weeks with our instructor, Laura. Susan’s really great, and it feels good that we can give her and others in the community the opportunity to learn.

“It’s something she wanted to learn for a very long time, but didn’t want to do it in a busy centre with loads of people around.”

The school, which opened in May, teaches people of all ages and abilities to swim.

Hayley added: “We help special needs children, some on the autism spectrum and we also have deaf children learning with us.”
