Watford’s most romantic man surprised his wife with an unexpected proposal and an invitation to her own wedding in the same day. Matt Tyas proposed to Katie Dommit on August 6 just as the couple were about to embark on what she believed to be their annual summer holiday to Ibiza with their two children and a few friends. When she got the airport friend were wearing Katie and Matt masks and she was handed the invite to her wedding, which was on Cala Tarida beach. “When I handed her the invitation the first think she asked was if she was on Don’t tell the bride,” Matt laughed. “Katie didn’t have a clue what was going on, she was in shock; it was the perfect surprise.” Matt spent nine months planning the wedding in Ibiza with the help of friend Michelle Simmons. He arranged for 43 adults and eight children to attend the wedding, including one of Katie’s friends who lives in Australia. Matt even picked out the wedding dress, with the help of the four bridesmaids, which he said fit Katie like a glove. “Katie literally had no suspicion about the wedding, she’s so laid back and it was a perfect idea for her. “Katie had been to a lot of weddings before and commented on the hassle of everything; she said she wouldn’t want the hassle of a wedding but I thought she deserved one. “The day was perfect, lovely meal, lovely sunset and it actually ran smoother than expected. “Katie said that the only think she would’ve changed was to invite one more couple, other than that everything was perfect.” The newly-weds friend, Rochelle, who attended the wedding commented: “The day could not have been more perfect. It was truly the most amazing day and like something in movie. “They are two of the nicest people you will ever meet; everyone needs a Matt and Katie in their lives.”
