A group of children at a St Albans primary school have all been awarded prestigious silver Blue Peter badges.

The silver badge is awarded by the iconic BBC children’s show for those who have performed extraordinary acts of kindness.

Creating a diary of their acts of kindness, the Year 5 class of Aboyne Lodge School have been carrying out all manner of good deeds, including collecting and donating food to the homeless, making cakes for their neighbours, helping their siblings with schoolwork, and helping new pupils to settle in.

Now, the class has been rewarded for their efforts with the sought-after badge.

Year 5 class teacher Alex Jeavons said: “I am delighted that Blue Peter have recognised all of the kind deeds that the children have been doing. This is something we really promote at Aboyne Lodge, and it was lovely to see the class bring in their badges to school.”

As for the schoolchildren themselves, they are over the moon.

Young Evelyn said: “I feel proud of my Blue Peter badge and what it represents.”
