A sporty boy from Croxley is the youngest student ever at his taekwondo club to have been awarded his yellow tag.
Shaan passed his grading for his yellow tag at the Total TKD TaeKwon-Do Chorleywood club, at the age of five, making him the youngest at the club to have achieved this.
His father Nickin Sitaram is very proud of his achievement, and said that he and his wife initially encouraged Shaan to start taekwondo as it focuses a lot on disciplines and respect.
He said: “It is quite good for discipline and teaching him to control his abilities which is why we chose it.
“He started in 2018 and normally you’re not allowed to do grading at his age, but I thought it was really good that the school noticed his ability and let him do it.”
His instructor Miss Kelly said that Shaan is her youngest student ever to pass a grading.
She said: “Shaan has been a student of mine for just over 2 years now. In this time, I have observed what a bright and gifted child he is, excelling beyond the expectations of his grade level. He has great ability for his age to focus on the task in hand and memorise sequences of patterns quickly.”
Shaan is now training for his yellow belt grading and if he passes will again be the youngest at his club to achieve this.
