The Academy is a Performing Arts School in Watford was delighted to hold its first live performance in 14 months at The Radlett Centre last month.

The school, which was formed in 2015, had last performed at a gala at The Shaftesbury Theatre in London on March 15, 2020.

A year’s worth of performances and events for its students were cancelled in between that and their latest performance due to COVID-19.

West End performer, Sara Bispham, who runs the school, was keen to get the kids back on stage as soon as possible, so worked closely with The Radlett Centre to ensure all COVID-19 restrictions were followed.

On Sunday, May 24, 60 students aged 13-18 took to the stage and sang various songs from West End musicals.

Sara said: “It was incredible to be able to get our students safely back on stage. They all had the most amazing weekend and after a year of lockdowns, they really needed the chance to perform.

“We are the first theatre school in the country to put on a show and we couldn’t be happier.”
