Northwood students show their green side

Published on: 10th April 2014   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

Northwood School students with green fingers are benefiting from the establishment of an unusual new garden at their school.

As part of the community outreach activities of BAM Construction, currently undertaking a substantial building project at the Potter Street site, a ‘skip garden’ has been created which will enable students to grow, nurture and harvest organic produce on the school grounds.

Mrs Underwood, school librarian and supervisor of the existing student gardening club commented: “This is a marvellous opportunity for our students to take ownership of a really interesting project. They will gain a valuable understanding of horticulture as well as learning the importance of using recycled materials. A skip is certainly not the usual place to grow vegetables, but we are looking forward to seeing what can be achieved.”
