A talented student from Croxley has celebrated a weekend of incredible sporting success.
Summer Evason, a Year 10 student at Croxley Danes School, competed in both the English Schools Cross Country Championships and Regional Swimming Qualifiers on Saturday, March 15.
Summer walked away with four personal bests and brought home six gold medals.
Summer said: “Whilst I’m used to big swimming events, the English Schools Cross Country was a new experience and with that came some anxiety. Battling my nerves, I ran as hard as I could and was glad to get through the race unscathed.
“During the two-hour drive to the swim gala, I tried to tell myself I wasn’t tired and prepare myself to swim. Once I got in the pool, I immediately felt in my comfortable place and ready to go.
“Swimming means everything to me and with the support of my coaches, it’s taught me so much about how I can push my body and how to focus my mind.”
James Cameron, head coach at Watford Swimming Club, said: “Summer’s competition day was a true reflection of who she is; resilient, hardworking, and unstoppable. She is a fantastic role model.”
