A Chorleywood resident has released the second book in a series of stories he has created with his daughter.
Daniel Stone is the writer and illustrator of The Amazing Adventures of Wicked Willy and Fearless Steve, which features drawings inspired by local landmarks in the village.
Talking about the book’s origin, he said: “My daughter and I made up the first story while on holiday a few years ago about a worm and his best friend, a seven-legged spider. They go on a trip to the seaside where they meet a shark.
“The theme is about not judging a book by its cover. The scary shark turns out to be really nice and they all become friends.”
The second book in the series explains how Fearless Steve the spider came to only have seven legs and explores the theme of anti-bullying.
The book also features augmented reality, where readers can make the illustrations come to life by using an app on their smartphone or tablet, complete with audio.
Daniel said he wanted to include this feature to help make the book more accessible for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia.
Daniel’s book is available from his website at www.wkdwilly.com and on Amazon.
What age are these books suitable for?
