Wealdstone were held to a goalless draw at Dartford this afternoon (February 29), but still remain top of the Vanarama National League South.
Dennon Lewis had the chance to give Wealdstone the victory on the 77th minute from the penalty spot, but was denied by the post.
The first half was a competitive affair with the best chance coming for The Stones on the 37th minute when Ashley Charles’ effort rebounded off the crossbar.
Charles was in again moments later after he managed to find some space on the wing, his cross was a dangerous one, but no one was there to get on the end of it.
The second half began with more of the same, and on the 58th minute Emmanuel Lafayette’s hard and low shot forced a brilliant save by the Dartford goalkeeper.
The chances were all coming for The Stones, and they were awarded a penalty on the 77th minute which Dennon Lewis stepped up for, but his effort hit the post and went out for a goal kick.
On the 86th minute, it was Moses Emmanuel’s turn to go close to scoring, but he slipped at the vital moment and was unable to get a shot away.
Dartford defended well in the end to hold top-of-the-league Wealdstone to a goalless draw.
Wealdstone can respond quickly to the result, with a game coming up on Tuesday night away at Tonbridge Angels.
