Two former classmates reunited after 43 years at the popular Croxfest event last month and it appears love may be in the air.
Garry and Siobhan first met in 1980 at school and for him it was love at first sight. Despite sitting just behind Siobhan in class, Garry was never able to get past his teenage shyness and ask her on a date.
When he left school in 1983, he lost contact with Siobhan leaving him heartbroken. Garry kept thinking of Siobhan during his time in the British Army, hoping one day to dance at a disco with her. On leave, he would wander around their hometown hoping to bump into her.
A few weeks ago, Siobhan found Garry’s Facebook page and after “talking for hours” over FaceTime, invited him to help out at Croxfest.
The pair helped to set up the festival and on the big day helped keep everything running smoothly. Following their shifts, Garry finally got to dance with Siobhan after 43 years.
Speaking to CroxleyNews, Garry said: “It was cosmic! It was worth every second of my 12 years of service just to boogie with Siobhan.”
Since reuniting, the pair have stayed in touch with Garry hoping to reunite with “the wonderful and always smiling” Siobhan at next year’s Croxfest.
