A Stanmore-based table tennis player defied all odds by securing a win at his first BATTS competition.
On Sunday, September 8, BATTS Table Tennis Club in Old Harlow hosted 29 different clubs from across the country in a competition for all ages and abilities. All players took part in matches of different bands, with a chance of taking home a portion of the £200 prize pot.
After several thrilling matches, spectators and players looked on in awe as 11-year-old Krit Dahal from Stanmore took to the table.
Krit started off strong, beating three opponents to make it into the final, where he played Grace Wang in the Band 2 category, a talented player who had previously won the same event in May. Despite this being his first BATTS tournament, Krit beat Grace to secure the win.
A spokesperson for the club said: “We are very grateful to our helpers who ensured another smooth-running tournament. And thanks to all the parents who supported us by bringing the players and making nice comments about the day.”
