Cat owners across Northwood are being asked to stay vigilant after a horrific incident in which a beloved pet was found beheaded in the street.
Residents in and around the Chester Road area have been warned to keep their animals indoors at night following the incident, and to install padlocks on outdoor hutches for rabbits and guinea pigs.
Leaflets organised by the South London Animal Investigation Network (SLAIN) have been delivered to properties nearest to where the killing took place, asking residents for any information that may help them figure out what happened and who is responsible.
According to the leaflet, SLAIN is interested in CCTV/doorbell footage from around 6pm on Wednesday, August 28, and 1pm on Thursday, August 29.
The leaflet adds that they would like to speak to anyone who:
- Saw a person behaving suspiciously or any vehicles that looked out of place during this time
- Saw a man dressed in black, with a headtorch in the area around the dates and times noted above, possibly on a bicycle
- Suffered property damage around these dates, including to fences or has had garden furniture moved around without reason/
SLAIN added that they are working in partnership with a specialist CCTV analysis company called Super Recognisers to try to track down any culprits or witnesses caught on video.
The killing has prompted a shocked reaction from many Northwood residents, with one anonymous individual telling Northwood & Ruislip News that it has “traumatised families” in the area.

When contacted, the Met Police said they had no reports of the incident that had been reported to them.
