DOWNSIZING: Shop in Kings Langley to be partly demolished to make way for new food store

Plans have been submitted to Dacorum Borough Council to part-demolish Dunelm in Apsley and create a new food store.

The furniture store on London Road, which currently has an internal floorspace of 3,580 square metres, is planning to reduce in size to just 2,476 square metres to accommodate the incoming new shop.

Documents include plans to complete work on the store front and the front, rear and side elevations to the building.

Additional parking has also been listed on the planning permission. The plans aim to add 14 new spaces to the car park, increasing the size of the car park to 96 spaces from the current 82.

It would also more than triple the number of jobs on the current Dunelm site, increasing the number of employees from 33 to 100.

There are also plans to add new passive electric vehicle charging spaces adjacent to London Road.
