Stanmore mum of four receives award for empowering women

A mum of four who set up a community for other mum’s has received recognition at a business awards event. 

Katie Taylor, 45, from Stanmore won Highly Recommended at the MPower business awards in the Community category for The Latte Lounge on June 29 in Birmingham. 

The Latte Lounge is a virtual coffee shop for women over 40 can chat, ask questions, share tips, advice, experience and news.

Katie, CEO and founder, said: “It was lovely, it was great to see lots of other inspiring women and networking at a national event. 

“I was completely gobsmacked and a tad emotional. This award is shared with my amazing team and all the past and present volunteers and mentors who have helped me grow The Latte Lounge into what is now; a very well loved and well trusted on-line platform for all women over 40.”

The Mpower National Business awards recognises and celebrates the achievements of women throughout the UK who are successfully juggling the challenge of starting and growing a business with family life.

Since the group’s formation in 2016, it has amassed more than 15,000 members who Katie and her volunteers try support.

She added: “It’s been unbelievable it’s become like a charity or a Samaritan. I receive a lot of emails from women who suffering with issues such as mental health, marriage and children. We try and find how people get the right help.”

“It’s great to get national recognition when you’re running a small business, juggling four kids so to be told you’re doing a really good job spurs you on.”
