Chorleywood Choral Society (CCS) are looking ahead to their next event after “a really successful” year so far.
CCS typically performs three concerts a year, as well as hosting various fundraising events.
This includes their popular Come and Sing events, the next edition of which will take place on Saturday, November 1. Typically attracting visitors from far and wide, the event will bring people together to learn a piece chosen by Graham Wili, the musical director of CCS.
This year, the chosen piece is The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins. Tickets for the event cost £20 in advance or £22 on the door.
The day will culminate with an informal concert where friends and family are invited to watch the performance.
Speaking to Chorleywood News, chair of CCS Nicola Isherwood said: “It’s very sociable; you get to meet new people and hopefully some will consider joining our merry band of singers.
“We also have a reputation for making the most amazing cakes, which will be on sale on the day!”
This comes after a successful year so far for CCS. In May, they performed Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini in Amersham which was “very well attended”, followed by a performance of Gloria by Vivaldi in collaboration with Berkhamsted Choral Society at the beginning of September.
Together with the Berkhamsted group, CCS travelled to Riga in Latvia earlier this year for a musical tour. As well as performing three concerts to packed audiences, members enjoyed plenty of sightseeing and socialising.
After the Come and Sing event in November, CCS will begin preparations for the busy Christmas period, with a performance scheduled for Saturday, December 6, at St Mary’s Church in Rickmansworth.
