STAGE 1: Date confirmed for first stage of Dacorum’s Local Plan hearings

Published on: 1st September 2025   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

The first stage of the Planning Inspector’s hearing of the examination of Dacorum’s Local Plan will take place from Monday, September 15.

The Stage 1 hearings will be held in-person and will determine whether the Local Plan is sound and complies with legal requirements.

The plan sets out a vision and framework for the future development of an area. Once in place, it helps to determine local planning applications.

Kings Langley Parish Council and Kings Langley and District Residents’ Association will be jointly represented at the hearing to oppose plans for 500 properties and a primary school on land at Shendish Manor.

Parish councillor Alan Johnson said: “The Local Plan stated larger villages such as Kings Langley would experience modest growth and would strengthen their role in providing services and facilities to serve their local community.

“Unfortunately, they clearly didn’t appreciate Shendish is in Kings Langley, despite the Hemel postcode, and their proposal will increase the size of the current village by nearly 25 per cent if it goes ahead. This is not a modest increase.”

Concerns have also been raised about the two new access/exit points to the north and south of the development and if the roads are designed to take an increased level of traffic.
