Excited students from Kings Langley School paid to attend the Staff Superstars Championship match between eleven of their teachers.

Paul McDonagh, a teacher, organised the tournament which took place from July 5-8 to generate money for the Ukraine DEC humanitarian appeal, which aids individuals impacted by the crisis in Eastern Europe. The competition raised a total of £1320.

In the sports hall, the tournament took place over the course of four lunchtimes and involved teachers against one another in the agility test, press-ups, sit-ups, basketball lay-ups, and the bleep test.

Mr. Thomas, an English teacher, took first prize, closely followed by Mr. Tembo and Mr. McDonagh in second and third.

Sybella and Amy from my Year 9 form group had come to Paul for the idea of how to raise money for the people in Ukraine.

Paul said: “Empathy is one of the character traits that is focused on and developed at Kings Langley and so we worked together to create the Staff Superstars competition to entertain the pupils in the school, whilst at the same time raising money for as deserved cause.”

The school hosted a non-uniform day on the competition’s last day, and students dressed in yellow and blue pin badges to demonstrate their support for the people of Ukrainian.
