A cemetery in Berkhamsted has been honoured as part of the Green Flag Awards for the second year running.
Rectory Lane Cemetery has received a Green Flag Community Award, the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
The cemetery was also named as Green Flag’s Team of the Year last year as part of the 25th anniversary of the award.
Commenting on the news that Rectory Lane Cemetery has met the Green Flag Award standard, Keep Britain Tidy’s accreditation manager Paul Todd said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making Rectory Lane Cemetery worthy of a Green Flag Award.
“It is a vital green space for the community in Berkhamsted and surroundings. This award is testament to the hard work of the Ranger and all the volunteers, who do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
The Friends of St Peter’s who led the volunteer-ran project to restore the cemetery are also looking for more volunteers to join them.
