The proposed merger of Gade Surgery in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood Health Centre has been approved and came into effect from Monday, June 2.
A consultation took place in May, asking patients for their views on the proposal. The most important reason for the merger was given as an increase in the availability of appointments.
The change means that the surgeries will be able to offer increased flexibility, with patients able to make appointments at their preferred site.
On their website, Gade Surgery said: “We believe that working together as one larger organisation will strengthen our ability to maintain high-quality care for our patients. We will be able to invest in innovation and create a stable and sustainable GP practice by sharing the resources and expertise of both current practices.”
Patients are not required to take any action as a result of this change, and the services available will remain the same.

Patients don’t need to take any action as a result of the merger? So that’s why thousands of patients in WD3 can no longer their GP records online because the merger of the two surgeries at an IT level didn’t go quite as planned… Those affected have to physically fill in a form and go physically to the surgery with government ID to request a new login to what you had previously, your form is then put in a queue and they apparently only have staff available once a week to process these forms…. Two weeks and waiting now….
