SPIRITED PERFORMANCE: Northwood FC hold heads high despite defeat to table-topping Ware

Published on: 22nd February 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Northwood F.C

Northwood lost once again despite going ahead early in the second half against Ware, who are top of the table.

Bottom of the table Northwood started well when Charlie Kuehn almost caught the Ware ‘keeper off guard with a shot from 25-yards out, but the effort went just wide.

Ware almost took the lead on the 25th minute when Thomas Bruno’s free kick went narrowly wide.

Northwood shocked everyone on the 49th minute when Romario Hart was brought down in the penalty area, leading to the referee pointing to the spot.

Romario stepped up and scored the penalty calmly, giving Northwood the lead.

On the 72nd minute, it was Ware’s chance to from 12-yards when Jaden Sharman fouled India the box.

Liam Hope scored the penalty to bring things back on level terms.

Northwood were desperate to get something out of the game and after performing so well for the majority of the game, they were heartbroken on the 77th minute when Gareth Madden nodded home the winner from a corner.

Despite picking up nothing from the game, Northwood can definitely take positives out of the performance, but The Woods need to start picking up points sooner rather than later.

Northwood’s next game comes in the week as they host Marlow at The Acretweed on Tuesday, February 25.
