Hertfordshire High Sheriff Sally Burton DL paid a special visit to the Blue Watch crew from Garston Fire Station last month.

High Sheriff Burton was treated to a tour of the station and heard about the work the crew has been doing in the local community.

Station commander Jim Moran said: “We discussed all sorts of matters and she had a look round the operation equipment and fire engine. We discussed all of the incidents we attend and the fire work we do, as well as the training we undertake. She was particularly interested in their training as she visited the training centre in Stevenage last year.”

The visit was organised after High Sheriff Burton met with the fire crew at a community event last year and was interested to find out more about the work that they do.

Sally said: “I spent some time talking to the six of them about their firefighting work, training, experiences and their valuable engagement with the local community and local schools. We toured the building, taking in the training room and the gym, ending with an inspection of the fire engine, the kit they carry and the procedures they follow.”
