Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and volunteers at Harvey Road in Croxley Green celebrated world thinking day on Tuesday, February 22 by wearing their Girlguiding uniform to school.
World Thinking Day is an important staple in the Girlguiding calendar, celebrated annually since 1926 all over the world. It gives a time for the groups to reflect on the meaning of Guiding and think about others all around the world.
Each year the theme of the event encourages members to think about the big issues affecting them and their global community. Previous World Thinking Days have tackled the subjects of poverty, gender inequality, environmental sustainability and access to education.
Guiding groups in the village are in need of adult volunteers to get involved. Janet Eavis, South West Division Commissioner for Girlguiding Hertfordshire said: “Guiding is a fantastic opportunity for girls, aged five to 18, to be themselves, try new things, make friends, and have a lot of fun.
“If you have fond memories of Guiding, or are completely new to Guiding, we would love for you to get involved. Becoming an adult volunteer is a great way to give something back to your local community, gain confidence, meet new people and learn new skills, all whilst having fun.”
