A beloved restaurant in Old Amersham is due to be sold as the owners pass on the baton.
The owners of Gilbey’s have decided to sell the family-run restaurant, which first opened 35 years ago and is run by Lin and Michael Gilbey.
Lin continued to run the business after Michael sadly died in June 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer.
Speaking about the decision, Lin said: “We just hope our customers keep visiting the restaurant right up to the day we sell. I am anxious to make sure the community understands that Gilbey’s will remain open to serve its much-loved customers until a buyer is found.”
Following the news, residents took to social media to share their love for the restaurant.
One customer wrote: “Some very happy memories both downstairs and up in the lovely little private dining room, so thank you and good luck!”
Another wrote: “This was my favourite restaurant. Thank you for all the lovely celebrations my family and I have had over the past 27 years.”
