Proving you are never too small to make a big difference, a five-year-old boy from Croxley has run 14 miles in 14 days to raise money for a cancer charity.
Charlie Daniels ran one mile every day between Monday, April 7, and Sunday, April 20, for Young Lives vs Cancer.
Lacing up his trainers every morning of his Easter break, Charlie headed out on his daily mile come rain or shine.
Showing new levels of commitment, he also took part in two weekend parkruns during the challenge.
Charlie’s hard work stirred up support from across the community but didn’t go unnoticed further afield.
None other than Team GB’s 1,500m world champion and Olympic medallist Josh Kerr saw Charlie’s efforts and sent him a personal message of encouragement, saying: “Keep it up Charlie, you’re smashing it.”
The athlete also generously sponsored Charlie, adding £518 to the fundraising pot and pushing it far beyond the original goal of £250.
His incredible feat has raised more than £1,400 for the charity, which supports children and young people with cancer and their families by offering vital care and services.
The money Charlie has raised will go directly towards helping families navigate “one of the most difficult times” in their lives.
Speaking to Croxley News, Charlie’s parents said: “Charlie used his love of running to help others who are going through tough times. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and can’t wait to see what other running challenges he takes on in the future.”
