Residents of Stanmore are being invited to join the Harrow Litter Pickers and help make their area a better place.
The group, which has more than 300 members on Facebook, meet up several times a week in Harrow and clear as many streets as they can. Members also post images and information from their own personal litter picks near where they live.
This January alone, their volunteers picked up 1,294 bags of rubbish in Harrow. They also alerted the council to 103 fly tips and put in a total of 509 volunteering hours.
Casey Dalton, who runs the group, said: “The great thing about the litter picks is that you meet friendly people who wouldn’t usually be in your social circles. We’re growing all the time, with new volunteers from all over Harrow joining in.
“It would be great to have more Stanmore residents join, even if you just join the Facebook group and show us what you’re doing on your own road, you’ll be feel amazing about how clean you’re making your local area.
“We also have a relationship with Harrow Council now, who have funded our equipment.”
