After having only been in the role for 38 days, Watford’s MP Dean Russell has had his first ever ministerial role stripped from him.
Mr Russell MP was appointed to the role of Minister for Enterprise and Markets at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on October 3, by then Prime Minister Liz Truss.
But now, with the Conservative party and governement under the new leadership of Rishi Sunak, the decision has been made to remove him from the role.
A spokesperson for Mr Russell MP said: “Dean is no longer a Minister at BEIS. Changes are often made to ministerial roles as a natural part of the political cycle especially when a new government is formed.
“Dean will fully support the Prime Minister from the backbenches and will continue to champion Watford at every opportunity. This includes continuing his campaign for Watford General Hospital funding, promoting better mental health provision and supporting the ‘Save our Nightclub’ campaign.”
