Boxing star Shannon Courtenay’s unbeaten record is in tatters after she was beaten by Rachel Ball last night.
The ‘Baby Face Assassin’ from Abbots Langley was on the back foot from the outset after she was floored by her opponent in the first round of the contest and although she produced a spirited response in the next few rounds, Ball was always dangerous and edged the final two rounds to claim a narrow victory, winning 77-75.
There was precious little to choose between the two fighters as acknowledged by those who watched on social media.
Luke Bernard-Haigh summed up the mood on Twitter.
I voted Shannon Courtenay, she showed true grit in getting up from that heavy first round knockdown and coming back strongly. Fight was so close that either could have won with no arguments from me.
She gained in defeat last night, despite losing her stock went up massively ????????
