The Abbots Langley High Street was shaken by a road traffic collision on Tuesday, January 16.
Two vehicles, a grey Mazda CX-5 and a silver Honda Jazz, were involved in a crash, police confirmed.
A Herts Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service, and two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The fire service also attended due to a fuel spillage and one of the cars smoking.”
Abbots News spoke to locals to gather more information.
One shopowner wasn’t surprised at the incident, remarking: “Nobody does 20mph around here!”
“By the time it’s got down the road, Chinese whispers means that it’s hard to know what really happened, but I saw four fire engines, three police cars.
An eyewitness who claimed to have seen the incident unfold said: “I saw the whole thing. Somebody was turning right into Adrian Road, and then they were just not looking. An old couple were taken to hospital.
“They weren’t trapped, but they cut them out as the lady was quite old and it was easier that way. Thankfully, no really bad injuries.”
