An inspirational teenager from Bushey has raised vital funds for a charity and donated 16 inches of her hair.
Leila Ditrolio, 17, had a charity cut off her long hair on July 16 at Sorella Hair Salon for The Little Princess Trust.
As well as donating 16 inches of her hair Leila also raised more than £2,600 for the charity who provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions.
Leila said: “Anyone who knows me, knows I take a lot of pride in my hair and have experimented with many colours from black and blonde to red and purple, my different hair colours express different periods of my life, and now I am ready for a new change, this time a big chop.
“My aim was to raise at least £1,000 to go towards the making of these wigs to try and give children battling cancer the confidence they deserve and to help boost their self esteem.”
Inspired by her selflessness Leila’s friends and family have shown their support.
Her mum, Lucia, said: “I’m so proud of my daughter for this amazing achievement, especially with a charity so close to our hearts.”
While her friends Jessica and Zahava described her as “selfless” and said they are “so proud” of her.
