Back-to-school season is now in full swing, and with it the challenges of congested roads, hurried drop-offs and children navigating traffic.
This year, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) wants to make the journey safer for pupils at Yorke Mead Primary School in Croxley.
As part of the Safer Routes to School programme, plans are in motion which aim to “improve drivers’ awareness of pedestrians crossing the road”.
Currently, proposals focus on warning signs to be installed on the approaches to the school at Dulwich Way and Fuller Way.
A part-time 20mph speed limit during school times could also be incorporated within the warning signs, alongside flashing amber lights.
There could also be a small extension outside 2 Dulwich Way of the existing double yellow lines and ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction, in order to improve pedestrians’ visibility.
HCC held a public consultation which gave parents and residents an opportunity to share their views until Friday, September 26.
