A group of musicians in Amersham didn’t let lockdown stop them making sweet music and finished second in a national competition.

Amersham Band is a brass band committed to high quality music making by developing and nurturing local brass players.

Every year in normal times. It enters the Cory competition against other bands from around the country and the world.

When this year’s competition was moved online, the band was still determined to enter and that determination paid off after they finished second and also won the most entertaining band prize.

The Amersham Band performed The Blues Brothers Bonanaza. Members recorded their individual parts at home which were then were assembled into a video, created by band member Mike Sheppard who also edited the soundtrack

Fred Harrison, chairman, said he was delighted.

He commented: “Every member of the band had their own part to play which they recorded wherever they could. It’s just amazing how inventive and creative the entries were. We’re really pleased to finish second out of more than 100 entries.”
