The 9th North Watford Scouts, based in Garston, has launched the area’s first-ever group for young Scouts aged four to six.
The group of children – known in Scouting lingo as a Drey of Squirrels – attended their first session on Friday, September 15. The Drey will be led by local leaders Rachel, Dave and Deb every Friday and has already reached full capacity.
The Squirrels will take their first steps into the Scouting world through playing games, earning badges, and exploring the local area both inside and outdoors.
On a national level, Squirrels first joined the world of Scouts in 2020, when The Scout Association decided to open a new provision for younger children. Dreys of Squirrels were piloted in Northern Ireland for two years, and now there are now more than 700 Dreys across the UK.
