Last year’s WellChild award winner, Sasha Burrell from Chorleywood, has joined the children’s charity WellChild in the call for nominations for the 2018 WellChild Awards.

The prestigious annual event celebrates the inspirational qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people and the dedication of those who go the extra mile to make a different to their lives.

Sasha, who had both legs amputated below the knee following a life-threatening infection, was picked from 100s of nominations across the UK to win the Inspirational Young Person awards category in 2017.

Her mother Claire said: “Sasha had such a fantastic evening at the WellChild Awards in London.

“It was such a great experience for us all to be involved in and something we will never forget.

“It would be terrific for another child or professional from our region to be a winner.”

If you know someone who deserves special recognition, then nominate them for an award by visiting www.wellchild.org.uk/awards or by contacting the charity on 01242 530007.

The categories for nominations include inspirational child or young person, most caring child or young person, nurse, doctor, outstanding professional and health team.

Entries for the 2018 awards will be judged by an expert panel including former winners, health professionals and child health researchers.

Awards will be handed out at this year’s event in London in the autumn.

The closing date for entries is Monday, April 9.
