As the clocks have now gone back, the need for lighting around underpasses has become a priority for many residents across Watford.
A local resident has contacted WATFORDnews to raise concerns about poor lighting around an underpass near Church Road, leading to Watford Junction.
The resident, who frequently returns from London in the evenings, said they now must rely on their phone’s torch for visibility while passing through the underpass in the evenings, as reportedly the lights are only visible during the day.
Others have also shared their frustration and some have suggested potential short-term solutions, such as battery-operated emergency lighting, while longer-term plans are discussed.
LED lights at the Church Road subway were installed back in July 2021 to maintain safety for residents who use the underpass.
Watford Borough Council has been contacted for comment.
