A resident of Cobden Hill in Radlett has contacted RADLETTnews regarding safety concerns over a planning application.
The plans propose the construction of six houses and a car park that can hold up to 25 cars behind a row of historic terraced cottages. It also includes building a new access road using the side garden at 5 Cobden Hill. This narrow area borders Public Footpath 54, and the proposal involves creating a ‘shared surface’ for vehicles and pedestrians.
Resident Nigel Brand told RADLETTnews: “My principal concern is for safety, as cars driving into this narrow access road will not have a clear view of cars coming out or dog walkers, mums with pushchairs or kids with bikes coming up the footpath.
“Cars routinely speed through this part of Cobden Hill, with a significant number doing over 50mph.”
The plan also involves the removal of many large trees and a loss of garden space for tenants of the existing cottages.
Hertsmere Borough Council was unable to comment as the application has not been decided.
